But This exam comes under MPSC Direct Recruitment. There are 3 or 4 Exams for Statistical officer
1) Statistical Officer, Gr.-B. Women and Child Development Department.
2) Statistical Officer BMC
3) Research Officer/Statistical Officer, General State Service, Group-B [Gazetted]
4) Research Statistical Officer Gr-B Directorate of Economics and Statistics
5) Statistical Officer in the Directorate of Health Services, Gr-B
if You are talking about Research Officer/Statistical Officer, General State Service, Group-B [Gazetted] then here is eligibility for this exam.
Eligibilty:
a) Master’s degree in Statistics or Biometrics or Econometrics or Mathematical Economics with
at least 45 percent of marks. OR
b) Master’s degree with at least 45 percent marks in Mathematics or Economics or Commerce
with at least one paper of 100 marks in Statistics or Mathematical Economics or
Econometrics.OR
c) Master’s degree with at least 45 percent marks in Mathematics or Economics or Commerce,
and a post graduate diploma in Statistics of a recognized institution. OR
d) Master’s degree with at least 45 percent marks in Mathematics or Economics or Commerce,
and a Certificate of a course in Demography or Population Science of a recognized
institution.OR
e) Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) from a recognized university with Bachelor’s
degree (at least in second class or 45 percent marks in aggregate where class is not awarded) in
Mathematics or Statistics or Economics or Commerce.
BUT Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to the qualification
mentioned in para 4.2 above, possess a practical experience in the following fields in reputed
institute or in a Government Department or in an industrial undertaking or local authority or
Corporations or Boards established by the Government:-
i) Collection, analysis and interpretation of statistical data; OR
ii) Conducting and organizing research in Economics problems involving the use of statistical
methods or quantitative techniques; OR
iii) Conducting large scale sample surveys and have undergone some training in that matter;OR
iv) Controlling or training the field staff in different sample surveys; OR
v) Computer programming in any higher level language and have undergone training in that
regard.
Exam Duration will be 2 Years.
